01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

Nestled in the charming neighborhood of Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia, Cake is an eclectic restaurant and bakery that offers a delightful fusion of breakfast and brunch favorites with an artisanal twist. This inviting eatery is renowned for its fresh, thoughtfully crafted dishes and a warm atmosphere drenched in natural light, accentuated by abundant greenery that creates a serene and uplifting dining environment.

The culinary journey at Cake begins with their enticing first-course options that awaken the palate and set the tone for a memorable meal. Imagine savoring the Focaccia Crostini topped with caramelized onions and smoky gouda, or the vibrant Spinach & Orzo Salad tossed with quinoa, cabbage, currants, and crushed cashews, dressed in a lively sesame orange vinaigrette. If you're in the mood for something heartier, the Antipasti platter brings together salami, aged provolone, ricotta pesto dip, and olives, complemented by grilled baguette slices. Each bite is a balance of textures and flavors, artfully designed to excite your taste buds.

For those who cherish indulgence, the dessert offerings are nothing short of spectacular. The Three Layer Cake stands out with its moist layers available in vanilla, chocolate, or lemon, enriched with luscious fillings such as raspberry mousse and almond-hazelnut ganache, all enveloped in silky buttercreams. The velvety Chocolate Decadence, a flourless dark chocolate cake with ganache, is a luxurious treat for chocolate lovers, while the classic Carrot Cake offers a comforting sweetness layered with cream cheese icing—each dessert a testament to Cake’s dedication to baking excellence.

Guests often praise Cake not only for its delicious food but also for its airy, inviting space. The bright, open layout paired with friendly, attentive service contributes to a relaxed yet vibrant vibe perfect for leisurely breakfasts, casual brunches, or grabbing a pastry and coffee to-go. Customers appreciate the seamless blend of a neighborhood café and an elegant dining experience.

Reviews echo a shared sentiment of happiness and satisfaction. One guest celebrated the delicious French Toast and quiche served in a converted greenhouse setting, while others have expressed their eagerness to return for the diverse menu offerings and the exceptional brunch atmosphere. The practice of taking names and calling customers when their table is ready creates a stress-free experience that encourages exploring the nearby coffee shops—a thoughtful touch that highlights the community feel of the locale.

Whether you're seeking a cozy breakfast spot, an eclectic lunch, or a beautifully crafted cake for a special occasion, Cake promises an enchanting experience that delights the senses and warms the heart. It's a destination where food feels like a celebration and every visit leaves you craving your next bite.

Cake is a nice place to grab breakfast. What I wanted to try was on their brunch menu. I’ll have to try and revisit for that option. Overall, good food and service. Relaxing vibe.

We've stopped by Cake in Chestnut Hill for some delicious Brunch! The restaurant is located in a converted Greenhouse and also offers baked pastries to go. We had the French Toast and Quiche and it was delicious! Service is fast and friendly. Would definitely stop by again!

I love this place!! The vibe is so good, with great natural light and tons of greenery. The servers are very friendly. They don’t take reservations, but you can go and give them your name. Then they call you when it’s almost ready. There’s a great coffee place across the street to kill time. Definitely worth the wait! I highly recommend the quiches.

I ordered a custom cake for my mom’s birthday and it was perfect. When I ordered I hadn’t seen many reviews about their custom cakes and I’d never eaten at the restaurant so it was kind of a shot in the dark that turned out wonderfully!! The decoration was adorable and the cake itself was delicious. It was super moist, and the lemon cake with raspberry mousse was an amazing combination. My mom and the rest of the party goers loved it. And I have to mention that compared to many other bakeries, Cake’s product was high quality AND affordable, which is a hard combination to find. I highly recommend them.

Could this be any MORE perfect of a brunch spot? The answer is no. :) Visited here with a friend for her bday, after a long hike around Wissahickon Park. The atmosphere/vibe makes you feel like you're outdoors in a garden setting, and our food was delicious. I had the sunny eggs over perfect brioche, spinach, potatoes, and turkey bacon that tasted like the real thing! We will 100% be back!

We went here for breakfast on a Saturday morning with friends. They opened at 9 am, and we were there waiting when the doors opened. We were seated right away, and the service was excellent. There were many bakery items to choose from. I had a delicious blueberry cheese danish to start. I ordered the breakfast sandwich, which was huge. I wasn't expecting that. The side salad was delicious with a citrus dressing. The portions were large, and the service was great.

I love Cake. The food, service and atmosphere are always a pleasure. The wait time is typically 45 minutes on Sundays, and they don’t take reservations . However, on some Saturday mornings, I’ve been able to walk in and get seated right away.
